Coach Joel

Meet Coach Joel, one of the founders of Dime Basketball Club. He brings nearly twenty years of coaching and instructing experience, ranging from first graders to adults. His coaching philosophy is enriched by his research in fundamental movement screening and athlete development models, underscoring his dedication to nurturing young talent.

In addition to his pivotal role at Dime Basketball Club, Joel has a distinguished background in law enforcement and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. His commitment to service extends to volunteering in youth athletic development, driven by a passion for contributing to the community.

A native San Diegan, Joel was a San Diego Section CIF Champion in basketball and San Diego CIF All-Team selection in basketball and baseball during his high school years. After high school, Joel played basketball at the University of California San Diego. Coach Joel's diverse professional experiences, coupled with his athletic accomplishments, make him a profound influence and an invaluable mentor to our young athletes.

Coach Rob

Introducing Coach Rob, a co-founder of Dime Basketball Club. Coach brings over 30 years of experience in youth sports to Dime. His basketball journey began as a young child, flourished in the same Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito our kids now play in, and continued through his college years. His passion evolved into a long-standing commitment to coaching in the San Diego area.

With decades dedicated to youth sports, Rob has become a familiar figure in the local community, known for his focus on youth development with an emphasis on teamwork and personal development. His approach is rooted in a belief that sports are a tool for teaching life skills and building character.

As part of the Dime Basketball Club since its inception, Rob has played a key role in shaping the club's direction and impact. His experience and passion for basketball have been integral in guiding young athletes in their sports endeavors.

Coach Ryan G

Meet Coach Ryan, the head freshman basketball coach at La Costa Canyon High School, where he has led the team for two years, including a notable victory at the RBV Freshman Winter Tournament in 2023. His coaching acumen is backed by a robust educational background and a deep commitment to teaching.

Beyond the basketball court, Ryan is a dedicated educator within the Sweetwater Union High School District, where he has taught physical education and history for the past three years. He holds a Master’s degree in Education and teaching credentials in both PE and history, equipping him with a unique perspective on student development that he brings to his coaching.

Coach Ryan’s dual role as an educator and coach allows him to implement a holistic approach to development, focusing not only on athletic skills but also on the personal and academic growth of his athletes. His expertise in education and passion for basketball make him a pivotal figure at Dime Basketball Club, helping young athletes achieve excellence in sports and life.

Coach Anthony

Welcome Coach Anthony, one of the newest additions to the Dime coaching staff. Currently leading the Junior Varsity boys basketball team at La Costa Canyon High School, Coach Anthony brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to our program. We are excited about the skills and experiences he brings, and look forward to sharing more about his journey and contributions to Dime in the near future.

Coach Sean

Meet Coach Sean, known for his expertise in shot mechanics and basketball fundamentals. Coach brings valuable experience to the Dime Basketball Club. A former high school and college basketball player, he has a deep understanding of the game, with a particular focus on fundamental movement and body control.

Sean's approach to coaching is comprehensive, emphasizing the importance of technique and discipline in basketball. He is passionate about helping young athletes develop their skills, both on and off the court, and is committed to contributing positively to the community. This commitment extends beyond the court, as he actively volunteers in various community initiatives.

As a father of three daughters, Sean understands the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, resilience, and confidence. His personal experiences as a parent and athlete enrich his coaching style, making him a relatable and effective mentor for young players at the Dime Basketball Club.

Coach Bruce

Coach Bruce comes to the Dime Basketball Club with over seven years of experience in after-school programs and a strong four-year background in basketball training and coaching. A UCLA graduate with a degree in Psychology, Bruce applies his academic insights to his coaching, offering a unique blend of knowledge and hands-on expertise.

He is particularly skilled in working with young athletes aged 5-13, demonstrating patience and a dynamic approach that resonates well with this age group. Bruce's coaching style focuses not only on enhancing technical skills but also on nurturing a passion for the game and developing holistic skills in young players.

Respected in the basketball community for his effective coaching methods, Bruce is known for his ability to improve the abilities of young athletes, fostering both their sportsmanship and love for basketball. His dedication to coaching goes beyond the court, emphasizing the growth of strong, well-rounded individuals.

Coach Ryan P

Meet Coach Ryan, a dedicated member of the Dime Basketball Club coaching staff and a fourth-year Kinesiology student at Cal State University San Marcos. Graduating from La Costa Canyon High School in 2019, Ryan distinguished himself as a dual-sport athlete, competing in both basketball and tennis throughout his four-year tenure.

At La Costa Canyon, he demonstrated his athletic prowess by playing varsity basketball under the esteemed Coach Dave Cassaw and excelling in varsity tennis for four years. His comprehensive understanding of athlete development, driven by his academic pursuits in Kinesiology and extensive experience in competitive basketball, enables him to contribute effectively to our players’ growth both on and off the court.

As a coach, Ryan is committed to fostering young talent and instilling a passion for sportsmanship and teamwork in his athletes. His approach not only enhances their physical abilities but also prepares them to become outstanding members of the community, embodying the core values of Dime Basketball Club.

Coach Niyanth

Meet Coach Niyanth, a dedicated member of the Dime coaching team with a rich background in basketball. A former point guard for San Dieguito Academy from 2013 to 2017, Niyanth began coaching while still in high school, taking on roles with NJB and the Encinitas Recreation Center. His early coaching experience also includes assisting with the 7th grade Young Mavs team in 2017.

After high school, Niyanth attended the University of Oregon, where he graduated with degrees in Economics and Psychology. Niyanth's blend of practical basketball experience and academic knowledge makes him a profound influence on our young athletes at Dime.
